Wine for your Weekend before Christmas

Bourbon Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon

Twas’ the weekend before Christmas and all through the house,
Every creature was stirring, including the mouse!

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
But the real thing we want…we won’t find it there!

Because this time of year is both frantic and busy,
With kids in a frenzy, relatives in a tizzy,

What we all really need isn’t wrapping and bows,
But a full bodied red, with stone fruits on the nose.

This wine for your weekend is truly a winner,
Good for sipping alone or serving for Christmas dinner.

The label’s not new, but this variant,
Is sure to add much to your yule merriment.

Menage a Trois Bourbon Barrel aged Cabernet
Is the best weekend warm up for your holiday.

With a faint hint of spice, and a light tinge of smoke,
And rich stone fruit flavors, this wine is no joke.

To decant is a must, to soothe out the flavor,
Give it ten minutes to breathe. Trust me! You’ll thank me later.

And if up on your roof, there arises a clatter,
Pour out a glass for Santa with his cookie platter.

In fact, Christmas cookies are good for wine pairing,
With this one try mint meltaways if you’re daring.

Most wines would get lost because peppermint’s bold,
But a full bodied Cabernet’s flavor won’t fold.

For savory, try nuts, salty meats and sharp cheese,
A charcuterie board will have you saying “more please!”

So whether cabernet, zinfandel, prosecco, rose
Pinot grigio, merlot, champagne, or chardonnay.

May your corks come out cleanly, may your glasses be tall,
And drink away, drink away, drink the wine…all!

I wish you Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
Now go pour out some wine, drink and me merry…

CHEERS!
