Week 50: THEY DID IT!!!

All week, I’ve been slowly coming to terms with whatever happened (or didn’t happen) with the house during this time was going to have to be OK. We had not heard from our drywall crew, and Josh didn’t want to hound them with the shelter-in-place order starting. Whatever they decided to do was going to have to be fine.

On Friday afternoon, Josh decided to text the lead guy, just to get a sense of what their plan was. In a best case scenario, we hoped they would feel comfortable at least sending SOMEONE to the house, seeing as it was otherwise empty, and they could have the entire space to themselves uninterrupted.

Then last night, we got the call…

In the midst of the shelter-in-place, they decided that new construction was as safe as it came, and they were almost done anyway, so they went ahead with a smaller crew and finished it!

The biggest feeling when we went to walk through it this morning (after I got over my nervousness of staying six feet away from the worker who was still there cleaning up!) was relief!! Now things are back in our hands. And while we might still be held up by availability of materials and whatever else this unusual and uncertain time might bring, at least we’re not in a holding pattern of someone else’s progress!

Week 50 was a bright spot!
