Week 57: Bits of this and that

With the school year winding down and summer heating up, the stream of “when are you going to move questions” started full force this week The answer is kind of two fold. On the one hand, I’d love to absolutely, positively say that we’ll be done and moved this summer…but Josh won’t promise me that. Which is partially because, on the other hand, it’s going to depend on how this pandemic keeps shaking out and our ability to get materials.

Case and point, we finished laying the hardwood floor almost two weeks ago, but we’ve been waiting for the wood filler and sealer to ship since then, so have had to move onto other projects. But this week Thursday, the materials showed up! So we pumped the brakes on other projects so that we could work on getting the floors finished. Steps 1-3: Fill all the knot holes with resin…sand the excess resin off…and then go over the entire floor with wood filler.

Without the floor to work on for most of the week, Josh tackled some of the floor tile in the bathroom, including the herringbone pattern on the master bathroom floor, which is awesome!

Also, the plank tile in the upstairs guest bathroom, which is the only tile that ends up in all three bathrooms, so we wanted to love it, and it is a definite winner!

Also, we got the rest of the light fixtures in, including the bathroom scones which we already had, and also the dining room fixture, which had shipped two weeks ago and finally arrived!

So this week we’re back to the hardwood floor which we want to have finished before my parents arrive for a few days next week to help with some projects. We’re also waiting on the landscaper to return to do our final grading so we can get grass seed down and some of the exterior stuff finished up.

Now that we’ve passed the one year mark, my social media reminds me of where we were one year ago…which was just a foundation with a few rim joists and a partial wall in the basement. So we’ve obviously come A LONG way.

But still, I’d just really like to have those floors done! 🙂
