So two biggest projects that got knocked out in week 59 were probably also the least photogenic projects. With my parents in town for a few days, Josh wanted to knock out the major job of blowing the loose insulation into the attic and above the garage, and God bless my dad for feeding insulation into the hopper of the machine all day because that was a job I was NOT looking forward to!
With my masked in the garage and my husband in a Tyvek suit up and out of sight in the rafters, this was not a perfect photo op.
My mom and I retreated into the much cooler, no Tyvek suit required, basement where we commenced on sanding all the cabinet doors, drawer fronts and boxes. I completed the sanding trifecta after they left by also finishing the sanding on the railing posts. We made a lot of dust, and also took no pictures.
The much more photogenic projects of the week happened as Josh and Dad started tackling the tile.
While the shower walls remain a project for this week, getting the floors down really gave us a sense of each space. And I was THRILLED the entryway was finally grouted, as the fragile slate tile is much more protected now from all sides.
I wrapped up the week with a personal challenge project. Having researched how to level and stack a retaining wall, I was determined to create the little wall next to the driveway needed to direct water away from our house. Josh loaded the block and paver base into the back of his truck for me, and then I was on my own for the rest!
That it is still standing, level, and ready for our landscaping crew to come back and do final grade, is a big success!
That I let my back get completely sunburned in the process is a big fail that I’m now paying the price for!
At least Week 60 puts me mostly back inside. Stay tuned for this week’s big debate: door knobs vs. door levers.
